In this special one-off Barbican night, entitled THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE COBRA, transgressive queer singer / performer CHRISTEENE pays tribute to Sinéad O’Connor, performing live her debut album The Lion And The Cobra. CHRISTEENE will be joined on stage by her band, featuring musicians from Austin, TX and New York as well as her long-time collaborators, dancers T Gravel and Dawg Elf; and special guest artists including Fever Ray and Peaches.

Sinéad O’Connor’s work – ‘her capacity to survive, her private and very public wars with the church, her compassion and vulnerability (CHRISTEENE)’ – has resonated with CHRISTEENE for decades, and she has therefore chosen to curate this collective evening, which will be a reverberation to the energy, anger and tumultuous times reflected in the Irish singer’s debut album.

KWEEN OF LTBTQ+ inspired PERFORMANCE CHRISTEENE said: ‘The world is an extremely mad fucked-up place, but there are still hidden gems catching light in the darkness. I feel in my gut, deeply, that this night will be one of them. I’ve assembled a beautiful team of collaborators to execute this dream who all share the same love for Sinéad ‘s work and this album. This project and this album deeply resonate with all people involved.’

THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE COBRA is realised with art direction from Kamal Ackarie and BASURA producer Peter Stopschinski as musical director.
