We are super-proud to have the one and only Dr JOHN COOPER CLARKE lend his support to the launch party for the second edition of COLD LIPS.
At the exclusive and intimate Courtyard Theatre in Hoxton, the punk laureate, who once dated Nico, John Cooper Clarke will give a rare performance in support of Cold Lips, which he calls ‘artistic and fabulous’. We are very happy to welcome him. (Sorry, but we are charging for tickets to cover his driver, Johnny Green, some sustenance, and a hotel for the night – we’ve kept it affordable rather than profit-making. For enquiries, please send email to studio@coldlips.co.uk.)
John Cooper Clarke was introduced to Cold Lips by the gorgeous spirit which is Nina Antonia, editor to Peter Doherty and author of The Only Ones biog, and the most stolen book ever, on Johnny Thunders – she will be joined on stage for a unique recital with Thunders’ former drummer Chris Musto.
Also: the editor of Cold Lips, Kirsty Allison – will be doing her first ever performance of poetry with the legendary drummer, Dave Barbarossa, whose tribal ‘Burundi’ beat-style made Adam Ant popular in art schools, and got him abducted by Malcolm McLaren into Bow Wow Wow. Taking influence from Nouvelle Vague/Bande A Parte – their set is gonna open the night – so get down for doors opening at 7pm, and hear Graham Bendel spin in the bar…
Other DJs on the night: Sean McLusky (Jo Boxers, Sonic Mook Experiment, 1234 Records, Gallery 46), Wildcat Will, Barnzley, and Jody Porter.
We’re also very pleased to welcome the psychedelic warrior, bassist of Spaceman 3, and writer of Playing Bass With Three Left Hands, Will Carruthers.
Live music is coming from the best band in the world, the balearic rock n roll foursome, GIL DE RAY, who bring together all your favourite music you’ve ever heard.
And last on: we’re happy to host a live performance from MATA.
